PHO regulatory pathway

A low phosphate concentration in the medium makes yeast induce a set of gene expression to adapt to the low-phosphate environment. This gene expression regulation is known as "PHO" regulatory system which is one of the most well-studied system for gene expression regulation in yeast. This study has been started by Dr. Yasuji Oshima and his colleagues in Osaka University (Japan) since 1970s. To this date, more than ten groups in the world are studying about the PHO-related topics as follows:

1. Signal transduction mediated by Cyclin-CDK system

2. Nuclear localization of the transcriptional activator

3. Chromatin remodeling on the promoters associated with transcriptional regulation

4. Metabolic pathway of phosphate including inorganic polyphosphate

5. What's the next?
