Since the transition to Tiger, we have not been able to provide much information about the cluster. More work will be required before we can get more statistics on this page. The plan is to have the cluster speed displayed here in real time, much like the way it is done with our Dashboard widget developed by mekentosj.
The grid started in March 2004 with a few computers in the Kobilka lab. Here are a few GHz-stones:
March 2004: 8 computers, ~4 GHz
April 2004: 20 computers, ~8 GHz, thanks to Sheila, Véro, Annemieke, Stephen, Amie, Malene, Ronald and Judith
May 2004: ~35 computers, ~20 GHz, thanks to Anne-so, Emmy, Jorge, Meih, Steve, Becky, Amy, Schantae, Cathy, Armand and Hervé
June 2004: ~70 computers, ~40 GHz, after a post in an Ars Technica forum (many thanks to all of you!)
July 2004: 100-130 computers, 80-120 GHz, after a post in the french site mac generation (merci à tous!)
March 2005: ~100-200 computers, ~200 GHz
June 2005: ~100-200 computers running Tiger, ~100 GHz
September 2005: with close to 500 computers and 200 of them working at any given time, the cluster is happily running past 200 GHz
September 2006: steady addition of new computers have brought the grid in the 400-600 GHz range: thanks to all the contributors!
More stats will be added to this page soon, including agent activity and history charts. Come back soon!
